Athena's London Internship semester, in conjunction with Marist College in New York, is an intern and study abroad combination program.

The semester takes place at the Marist London Center, located in a diplomatic enclave of Chelsea-Kensington-South Kensington area of London, England.

This innovative technology-based program provides students with the opportunity to go beyond the traditional boundaries of study abroad by incorporating practical work experience into their study abroad semester.

Students will focus on areas that match their academic interests, objectives, and career goals. The internship placement will enhance the student's experience and exposure to the host culture by immersing students into the work and social environment of their field of interest.

An internship coordinator will make all placement arrangements including identifying sites, setting up interviews and appointments and providing supervision. Internships can be arranged in several academic areas. This work immersion experience will provide students with an opportunity to hone their skills, be exposed to a new environment, and develop a network in their area of interest.

Students will enroll in an intensive foundation course (British Life and Culture) taught by British faculty. Students will also participate in a six-credit internship. In addition, students will select 6 credits from the following options:

• Option 1
  • 3 Credits: Online course from a selection of Marist e-learning courses offered by a Marist faculty member
  • 3 Credits: Course taken on-site from a limited selection of courses offered by British faculty
• Option 2
  • 6 Credits: Two courses taken on-site from a limited selection of courses offered by British faculty

The following is a 15 credit semester program:

• 3 Credits: Foundation course (British Life & Culture) taught by British faculty
• 6 Credits: London Internship
• 6 Credits: A combination of London courses and/or Marist e-learning course (described above)
