Campion Scholarship in Sydney, Australia

1. CRITERIA

To be eligible for consideration for the scholarship, applicants:

• must apply for Athena’s Sydney semester study abroad program
  
• must, in the opinion of the selection committee, have demonstrated the personal qualities that would identify them as prospective leaders of quality
  
• must have a strong record of academic performance, as demonstrated through the High School or University results
  

2. HOW TO APPLY

After applying to the semester program, please write an essay outlining why you believe you should receive the scholarship (minimum of 300 words). In your essay, include your name and comment on areas such as:

• Academic results
  
• Involvement in school / local / parish community initiatives
  
• Leadership roles in your school or the wider community
  
• Reasons for wanting to pursue studies in the Liberal arts
  
• Why you wish to pursue your studies in Australia

Please include copies of any other supporting documents (references, awards, recommendations, etc) in your application. You may include this information, including your scholarship essay, with your application to the program.

3. SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT

Students studying abroad for a semester may receive a maximum of $2,000. The benefit will be applied toward the program fee.

4. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS

• Complete an Athena application for the Sydney semester program
  
• Selection of scholarship recipients will be on the basis on the written application (including supporting documents)
  
• Successful applicants will be notified before January 15, 2010 for the semester starting in March and May 30, 2010 for the semester starting in July

5. APPLICATION DETAILS

Applications must be sent to Athena Study Abroad by:

• December 30, 2009 for the semester beginning in March, 2010
  
• April 30, 2010 for the semester beginning in July, 2010
